Not since the very beginning, but very early on.

When bands radically change their sound, regardless of why, people get pissed off.

Trivium managed to recover pretty well after "The Crusade" by putting out "Shogun", a groundbreaking amazingly heavy album... their fans forgave them. But A7X is unabashedly targeting the mainstream, and have stated their intentions are to continue in this path.

I have no sympathy.

--Kyle

Re: Avenged Sevenfold: An Album Review

have u by any chance been a fan of a7x since there first album, if so i understand how you would be offended by their changes in style but i personally think they have found a much more original sound than they used to have on STST and WtF (which are both brilliant albums by the way)

Re: Avenged Sevenfold: An Album Review

Damn dude, harsh much? They are in their 20's just playing music they like and that they think just reflects their influences. And are you really going to call them out on what they wear because they aren't as heavy as they used to be? In a few years they will fall into a groove and find their own style, but for now they are just bein. Go to a concert of theirs, trust me, it sounds slot heavier than on the album (usually).

Re: Avenged Sevenfold: An Album Review

They are good at what they do, but I think it's terribly cheesy and just can't get my head around why they are so popular.

I hyped Avenged Sevenfold on Everhype.com and gave them 53% which I think is fairly accurate.

http://www.everhype.com/hyper/mikeborgia?X=S2261

If you get on there rate me a 5 and request friendship.

Re: Avenged Sevenfold: An Album Review

I think their self-titled album is very good. The only thing I don't like is that M does sound like he's whining in a few songs. "A Little Piece of Heaven" is one of my favorite songs. I agree, though, that "Scream" is one of the best on the album (yes, I called it an album). This album is really what got me hooked on A7X, and I have gone back and bought their other albums.

Re: Avenged Sevenfold: An Album Review

I just love the new album, i think it's much more appealing and especially devirsified than what they've released before. Funny that I esp. love "Piece of Heaven" because of the great instruments and the new style here. By the way: you will get turned into a pumpkin how Helloween stated on their Keeper-album-booklet because u've spelled their bandname with an "A" ;)

Re: Avenged Sevenfold: An Album Review

i agree, this album is different, but the guys said they are constantly changing...so yeah this is a big change..just like how there was a change from all of their albums..from sounding the seventh trumpet to waking the fallen, city of evil to their self titled one. they don't like the same thing, so that's how it is. I'm still a big fan.
